i like my fl-820s motorcraft filters or nappa gold(wix) but if you want hard core i'd say john deere filters

Motorcraft oil filters (FL820S) in my P71 and Mustang since it is recommended by Ford.

Motorcraft FL-820S of course. I have used Purolator PureOne, and K&N Performance Gold oil filters before too. I like all three.

The K&N oil filter and PureOne were one of the top performing oil filters of their price range on oilfilterstudy.com before the site disappeared.

Wonder if there is a structural (performance?) difference between the Ford Racing FL820S and Motorcraft FL820S filters.

Some good honest feedback here: With the WIX and the NAPA Gold, I sometimes get the "oil change" engine rattle when staring up. That's on both the 03 and the 06. I use 5W30 in the 03 and 5W20 in the 06. It's the FILTER that's causing this. The FL820S NEVER did this.

I vote heartily for the MC FL820S!!

K&N Gold i use mainly, or a Motorcraft, either or works fine, and never had a problem.

I have been using all Napa Gold (Wix) filters for the last few years but I think something has changed. A friend of mine I convinced to get one for his escort and he got the startup rattle. He changed to a Fram and no more. Then the last filter I bought is doing the same thing on the Cougar! My truck doesn't but I think I'll go back to the Motorcraft filters next time I change oil.

I used to use Motorcraft, then Mobil-1 offered a filter. Later on, I switched to AMSOIL filters.

In a pinch, I'd use a Motorcraft.

if you ask, walmart will include the motorcraft filter at no extra charge (you just gotta ask)

I cut open one of every filter I sell at autozone, and placed them on a display. the the cheapos are all the same, inside, the delco and fram are pretty close to the same except the fram has a cardboard filler piece. the motorcraft, k&n,mobil 1 and bosch are all pretty close to identical, except the motorcraft has a denser packing in the filter media. we also cut open a wix from oreillys, and they must buy the cheap wix, as its the same as the delco/puralator.

I say all that to say that I use the motorcraft with mobil 1 oil in the marauder, and all 9 of my trucks.
